Title: Trustea's Initiative to reduce GHG emission in tea through regenerative agricuture and energy management

From the standpoint of the primary producers, the GHG emission in teaproduction occurs in two distinct area sof operation-field and processing factory. As a sustainabiltiy standard trustea , is focussing on managing th impact of climate change in production of tea in India. This will not only help to mitigate the impact of climate change but also usherin low carbon tea production regime in India.

In the field of regenerative agriculture ,trustea is implementating a large scale countrywide Regenerative Agriculture program funded by Hindustan Unilever Ltd. The prigram will cover more thna 70000 hecatre sof area in 6 years and aims to reduce GHG emission from tea cultivation upto 25%.

In the factory processing sphere, the energy management process is anchored on the mandatory energy audits which is caried out by the trustea certifed entities as a part of complaince.Given that trustea has certified more than 70% of tea produced in India, this is expected to have a significant impact.

In order to facilitate credible and easy tracking of reduction, trustea has also created proprietory digital apps to facilitate the process.
