Join us at IIT Guwahati for the Annual Session of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) — a premier gathering of scientists, scholars, and thought leaders from across the country. This year’s session features a thematic symposium on “Healthy Brain, Mind, and Cognition: From Computers to Clinics,” exploring the intersection of neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and clinical therapeutics.
The 95th Annual Session will be hosted by IIT Guwahati, an institute of national importance known for excellence in science, technology, and interdisciplinary research. The Symposium titled “Healthy Brain, Mind and Cognition: From Computers to Clinics” will explore the interface between neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and clinical therapeutics. The flow of the symposium will be Brain Structure to Function → Brain Function & Dysfunction → Brain Wellness & Therapeutics → Brain Physical Systems (BMI / Neuromorphic Computing).
Established in 1930, The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) is the country’s first science academy, founded with a visionary mission to promote science and technology across India. Inspired by Prof. Meghnad Saha’s 1929 article “A Plea for an Academy of Sciences,” NASI continues to uphold his vision of advancing human knowledge and societal well-being through science.
Prof. Saha emphasized, “An Academy of Science can do a great deal by educating public opinion, undertaking particular problems, and bringing out scientific workers in various fields for discussion and cooperative research.” NASI’s legacy is shaped by luminaries such as Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, Prof. M.G.K. Menon, and its current President, Prof. Vinod K. Singh.
NASI publishes leading journals like Proceedings of NASI Section A & B and the National Academy Science Letters, organizes annual sessions and symposia on key scientific themes, and actively engages in public science outreach through lectures, contests, and creative programs.
Its initiatives include:
NASI remains committed to advancing science, nurturing talent, and supporting India’s journey toward a knowledge-driven future.
Established in 1994, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) is a premier academic institution recognized globally for excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. It comprises 11 departments, 7 interdisciplinary centres, and 5 schools across disciplines such as engineering, science, healthcare, humanities, and management.
Situated on a scenic 285-hectare campus along the Brahmaputra River, IIT Guwahati is often lauded as one of India’s most beautiful campuses. Its setting amidst verdant hills and serene waters creates an ideal environment for creative and intellectual exploration.
The campus hosts world-class infrastructure including state-of-the-art labs, research centres, India’s first research park in the Northeast, and the Param Ishan supercomputer — among the most powerful in the country — enabling breakthrough research across disciplines.
IITG has made significant contributions to both regional and national development and is consistently ranked among the top institutions in India. According to the QS World University Rankings 2025, it is ranked 344 globally and 42nd in 'Citations per Faculty'. Domestically, the NIRF 2025 places IITG 11th overall, 8th in engineering, and 10th in research.

Nestled along the banks of the majestic Brahmaputra River and surrounded by rolling hills, Guwahati is the largest city in Assam and the cultural, commercial, and educational hub of Northeast India. Known as the "Gateway to the Northeast," this vibrant city beautifully blends tradition and modernity, offering visitors a rich tapestry of heritage, spirituality, natural beauty, and local flavor.
Guwahati’s food scene is diverse and delicious. Enjoy authentic Assamese thalis, featuring rice, fish curry, bamboo shoot dishes, and unique flavors like the "khar" and "tenga." Popular eateries and cafes across the city also offer North Indian, Bengali, Chinese, and continental options. Don’t miss local sweets like pitha, laru, and jolpaan.
It’s worth noting that the vibrant Hornbill Festival in Nagaland takes place annually from December 1st to 10th, coinciding with our event. Often called the “Festival of Festivals,” Hornbill celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Nagaland’s diverse tribes through traditional dance, music, crafts, food, and sports. While Nagaland is a few hours' journey from Guwahati, the festival is a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant tribal culture of Northeast India during your visit.
Whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, spiritual seeker, or foodie, Guwahati offers a welcoming and memorable experience — rich in culture, heritage, and heart. It’s more than a transit point; it's a destination in its own right.
