IIT Guwahati, one of India's premier educational institutions, is located in the scenic city of Guwahati—known for its rich culture and status as the gateway to Northeast India. The city is well-connected by air, rail, and road, ensuring convenient access for all participants.
The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) serves as Guwahati’s main air gateway, with direct flights from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. On arrival, travelers can reach the IIT Guwahati campus using prepaid taxis or app-based services such as Ola and Uber. The journey takes around 40–60 minutes depending on traffic.
Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) is the city’s main rail hub, well connected to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Other nearby stations include Kamakhya Junction and New Guwahati. From Guwahati Station (Platform 1 side – Panbazar exit), taxis and app cabs are easily available for direct travel to the campus.
Guwahati is well-served by the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and private bus operators connecting it to cities across Assam and nearby states. The main terminal is the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT). The IIT Guwahati Institute Bus Service runs regularly between the city and campus, and private taxis are also readily available.
