Important details regarding your accommodation, food, and travel arrangements: (Research Scholars and Post Docs)
Accommodation: Based on the information you provided, your accommodation has been arranged at the Umiam (Male), Disang GW (Female), and Lohit (Family) hostel of our Institute. Please refer to the attached map for the location of the different hostels. All of you will be accommodated with single occupancy.
Food Arrangements: Conference meals will be provided from lunch on 20 December to dinner on 23rd December at the conference venue. For those arriving before the 20th December lunch or departing after the 23rd December dinner, several dining options are available on campus, including hostels and other eateries within and outside the campus. We will have a Banquet dinner on 21 December in the B-type community hall.
Travel Arrangements: We do not provide pick-up or drop-off services. During regular hours (early morning to early evening), app-based cab services should be available from the Guwahati airport/Guwahati railway station/Kamakhya railway station (nearest). However, after evening hours, it is recommended that you pre-arrange a taxi by contacting one of the listed vendors. The cost for a one-way ride is between Rs. 500-800.
Volunteers from IITG: We have assigned one research scholar per 10 participants (Male student and Female student see the attachment), and you can contact them for any kind of help, including arrival, departure, food court, hostel room, etc.

IIT Guwahati is located about 22 KMs away from the Guwahati city. While the city is located on the south bank of the river Brahmaputra, IIT Guwahati is located on the north bank of the river.
From Guwahati Airport
IIT Guwahati is located 23 KMs away from the Guwahati airport.Prepaid taxis are available from the airport to the IITG campus. Taxi fare should not exceed Rs. 500 from the airport to the IITG campus.
From Guwahati Railway Station
IIT Guwahati is 22 KMs away from Guwahati railway station. Call taxis are available from Guwahati city to IITG campus. Call taxis can be booked at 0361-2228888 at least 24 hours prior to the time of journey.
IITG bus from Guwahati
IIT Guwahati runs buses from Guwahati city to IITG campus at regular intervals. The fare is Rs. 10. The designated stop is in front of Hotel President in Panbazar. It is a 15 minute walk from Guwahati railway station.

Climate
Supporting the state's abundant wildlife and luscious vegetation are the monsoons which stretch from late May to September, but there are intermittent rains even in the winters. Winters begins in late November and continues till February. Winter mornings in most parts of Assam are marked by dense fog giving the land an aura of ethereal beauty.
About Guwahati City
Guwahati is the largest city in Assam and a major seat of social and cultural activites. Once known as Pragjyotishpura (the Light of the East), Guwahati derives its name from the Assamese words "Guwa" meaning areca nut and "Haat" meaning market. Guwahati also known as the gateway to the North Eastern region of India is a picturesque city located along the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra, the pride of Assam.
The world famous Shrimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra is located in Guwahati. In addition to being Northeast India's largest cultural congregation, the Kalakshetra is also a major tourist spot in Guwahati. Guwahati is home to some of the oldest and esteemed educational institutes of the country namely the century old Cotton College, Gauhati University (the oldest university in this part of India), Handique Girls College, Gauhati Medical College, Assam Engineering College, Indian Institute of Technology (a premier institute for technical education in the country), etc. Every year thousands of students come to the city from different parts of the North east for higher education in the prestigious educational institutes of the city.
It is also worth mentioning that Guwahati is one among the 98 Indian cities which will be upgraded to Smart Cities under a project embarked on by Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. With the grade of a Smart city, Guwahati will have highly up-to-date and radical provisions like regular and continuous electric supply, first-rate traffic and transport system, superior health care and many other prime utilities.
