About The Speaker


Prof. Khakhar is the Former Director of IIT Bombay. He did his B.tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi and PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. A well-known name for his pioneering research on mechanics of granular materials and polymer processing, he is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies viz. Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and National Academy of Sciences, India as well as Indian National Academy of Engineering. His accolade includes several prestigious awards including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (1997) and the Swarnajayanti Fellowship (1998). He serves on the Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India (SAC-PM), Scientific Advisory Committee of the Cabinet (SAC-C), Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).
