Brahmaputra Board is a statutory body, set up by an Act of Parliament, under the Ministry of Jal Shakthi, Government of India. The functional jurisdiction of Brahmaputra Board covers all North Eastern States including Sikkim and part of West Bengal. It carries out planning and integrated implementation of measures for control of flood and bank erosion in Brahmaputra and Barak river basins. The NEHARI (North Eastern Hydraulic & Allied Research Institute) is a part of Brahmaputra Board carrying out hydraulic model study, consultancy services and conduct capacity building exercise.
