In the Anthropocene era, river bank erosion and flooding are among the critical environmental problems and have been found to increase at a faster rate due to changes in climatic conditions, geomorphological features, and escalation in anthropogenic activity. With long experiences of success and failure, various new ideas have evolved and many are implemented on pilot basis globally. Holistic approach with due emphasis on ecological sustainability and socioeconomic viability should be promoted and standardized for better future. Keeping this in mind, this conference is being organized to provide a platform for discussion among various relevant disciplines so that some meaningful practical strategies can be evolved for the management of floods and erosion in a sustainable way.
