KEYNOTE I : Leveraging The National Semiconductor Mission to Promote     Deep-Technology Innovations in Academia

Speaker: Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao

Biography: Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao is currently Vice Chancellor for the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS Pilani) campuses located in Pilani, Hyderabad, Goa, Dubai and Mumbai. Prior to joining the BITS Pilani in 2023, Prof. Rao had served as the Director of IIT Delhi for 6 years during 2016-2021 and as a Chair Professor for Nanoelectronics at both IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi.

Prof. Rao is an internationally acclaimed Nanoelectronics researcher with over 480 research papers and 50 patents, which include 20 issued US patents. 15 of his patents have been licensed to industries for commercialization. 100's of millions of ICs sold all over the world use the joint IP developed in his group with semiconductor industries for CMOS-SoC applications. Prof. Rao is a co-founder of two deep technology startups at IIT Bombay (Nanosniff & Soilsens) which have successful commercial products in the market. Besides his education and research activities, Prof. Rao is also well known for establishing major Nanoelectronics Programmes in the country. For his research accomplishments, Dr. Rao has been elected a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), the National Academy of Sciences (NASI) & the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). 52 Ph.D. students have graduated so far under his supervision and are working in leading academic institutions, semiconductor industries all over the world, including in India.

Prof. Rao's research and leadership contributions have been recognized with over 35 awards and honors in the country and abroad. He is a recipient of three honorary doctorates. The recognitions Prof. Rao received include the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in Engineering Sciences, Infosys Prize, IEEE EDS Education Award (the highest international award bestowed by IEEE Electron Devices Society for Education) and many others. Prof. Rao serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of several leading international journals such as the ACS Nano Letters, AIP Applied Physics Reviews, IEEE Journal on Flexible Electronics etc. Dr. Rao has delivered over 200 Plenary, key-note and invited lectures all over the world.

Besides his regular teaching & research activities at IIT Delhi, Prof. Ramgopal Rao serves as a Chairman for multiple committees at the National level related to Education, Research and Innovation programmes in India. He is currently the Chairperson, Council of Management (BoG) for the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bangalore and Chairperson, Board of Governors for the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in Haryana, two premier institutions of Govt of India.

Speaker: Prof. Sukumar Mishra

Biography: Prof. Sukumar Mishra is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and a senior member of the IEEE, specializing in Electrical Engineering. He has been associated with the institute for the past 19 years, making significant contributions to the field of electrical engineering. Dr. Mishra holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University College of Engineering, Burla, and obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College, Rourkela, in 1992 and 2000, respectively.

Dr. Mishra has received numerous academic recognitions and awards. Some of his notable accolades include the Leadership in Innovation Award from the World Leadership Academy and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, the Prof. K.L. Chopra Applied Research Award from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, and the Outstanding Teachers Award by the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He has also been recognized with awards such as the NASI-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award in Physical Sciences, the National Mission Innovation Champion Award by the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Bimal Bose Award by the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, and the Distinguished Investigator Award by the Science & Energy Research Board.

Dr. Mishra has held significant positions in the industry as well. He is currently a Chair Professor at ABB and has also served as a Chair Professor for the Indian National Academy of Engineering. Additionally, he has been an Independent Director for River Engineering Pvt. Ltd. Prof. Sukumar Mishra's expertise, experience, and contributions to the field of electrical engineering have earned him a strong reputation as a distinguished professor and researcher. BANQUET TALK : Achieving Power Efficiency on Device AI.

Speaker: Mr. Sumit Goswami

Biography: Sumit got over 2 decades of experience in semiconductor industry and known for building high performance teams and delivering cutting edge SoCs. He is currently responsible for driving tools, flows, methodology and physical design execution in Qualcomm. He joined Qualcomm 10 years back and played various leadership roles as part of India engineering team which includes high performance CPU/GPU/Multimedia design, customer engineering (CE) and design of RF, PMIC SoCs. Prior joining Qualcomm Sumit worked in Intel and designed chips for servers, client compute, integrated graphics and IoT. He started his career in Synopsys.

Sumit is representing Qualcomm in various industry bodies like IESA, VLSI Society of India (VSI) etc. He is a Senior IEEE member and published 50+ papers across various conferences and chaired several prestigious WW conferences. During his career he worked on all aspects of SoC design starting transistor level design to system design and taped out 100+ SoCs powering mobile, automotive, server, laptop, graphics and IOT platforms.

Sumit holds BTECH in Electronics and Telecommunication from IIEST and Executive MBA from IIM Calcutta.

KEYNOTE IV : On Programmable Data Plane Network Switches and their Applications

Speaker: Prof. Krishna M. Sivalingam

Biography: Prof. Krishna M. Sivalingam is the Gopalakrishnan Institute Chair Professor in the Department of CSE, IIT Madras, Chennai, INDIA, where he also served as Head of Department from Feb. 2016 - Feb. 2019. Earlier, he was a Professor in the Dept. of CSEE at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA; with the School of EECS at Washington State University, Pullman, USA from 1997 until 2002; and with the University of North Carolina Greensboro, USA from 1994 until 1997. He has also conducted research at Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ, and at AT&T Labs in Whippany, NJ.

Prof. Sivalingam received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1994 and 1990 respectively; and his B.E. degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 1988 from Anna University's College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai (Madras), India. While at SUNY Buffalo, he was a Presidential Fellow from 1988 to 1991.

Prof. Sivalingam holds four patents in computer networks and has published several research articles including more than eighty journal publications. He has published an edited book on Next Generation Network Technologies in 2011, on Wireless Sensor Networks in 2004 and on optical WDM networks in 2000 and 2004.He is presently serving on the Editorial Board of IEEE Networking Letters.

Prof. Sivalingam has served as the Editor-in-Chief for Springer Photonic Network Communications Journal and the EAI Endorsed Transactions on Future Internet. He has served as a member of the Editorial Board for several international journals including IEEE Transactions of Mobile Computing, ACM/Springer Wireless Networks Journal and Elsevier Optical Switching and Networking Journal. Prof. Sivalingam has served on the Steering Committee of IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommunications Systems (ANTS) and ICST International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous).

Prof. Sivalingam is a Fellow of the IEEE, Fellow of INAE and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.

KEYNOTE V : Deep Learning for Wireless Communications

Speaker: Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi

Biography: Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi is an esteemed Indian professor and researcher, education administrator, and researcher in the field of electrical engineering. He completed his academic journey at the renowned Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, where he earned his B.Tech., MTech., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1986, 1988, and 1995. Chaturvedi has made significant contributions to academia and research. He began as a faculty member in the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, from 1994 to 1996. Following this, he joined the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. In 1999, he transitioned to the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, where he held several distinguished positions, including Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dean of Research & Development, and Deputy Director.

Chaturvedi's passion for education and research is evident in his impressive career trajectory. He became a Professor (HAG) in August 2012 and held the esteemed Sanjay and Rachna Pradhan Chair Professorship at IIT Kanpur from March 2015. In 2017, he assumed the role of Director at IIT Roorkee, a position of great honour and responsibility. During his tenure, he also served as the Director of IIAS Shimla from January 2017 to August 2018 and as the Director of IIT Mandi from July 2020 to January 2022.

Chaturvedi has made significant contributions to the Indian telecom sector. He served as the Coordinator of the BSNL-IITK Telecom Centre of Excellence, which successfully undertook numerous projects in collaboration with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). His expertise and leadership have garnered recognition, earning him prestigious awards such as the INSA Teachers Award, the Distinguished Teacher Award of IIT Kanpur, and the Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship of Nanyang Technical University, Singapore. As a founding member of the Telecom Standards Development Society of India (TSDSI), Chaturvedi played a crucial role in shaping the telecom standards landscape in India. Furthermore, he served as a member of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) committee in 2008, providing recommendations for spectrum allocation to telecom operators.

Chaturvedi's research interests lie in communication theory and wireless communications, areas in which he has published extensively. His contributions encompass waveform shaping, sequence design, MIMO systems, and the application of computational geometry to multiuser detection in CDMA. With his extensive academic and administrative experience, coupled with his exceptional research contributions, Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi continues to make a profound impact on the field of electrical engineering and the Indian education system.
