Abstract: Wireless communication has become an integral part of today's world and in recent times it is witnessing unprecedented growth. To meet the growing demand of higher data rate in wireless communication systems, the millimeter wave band of frequencies will play increasingly important role. While millimeter wave band of frequencies offer abundance of bandwidth for supporting very high data rate communication, the design of communication systems becomes quite challenging. To overcome the high signal attenuation in the millimeter wave band, use of large arrays with beamforming are considered as viable solution. Hybrid beamforming with number of RF chains much smaller as compared to the number of antenna elements are being developed as a cost effective solution. However, there are several technological challenges which require to be addressed for utilizing the potentials of beamformers. Beam blockage is another major issue for millimeter wave wireless network and mitigation of such beam blockage is a very important aspect of the design of such network. This tutorial will highlight some of the challenges for designing wireless communication system in the millimetre wave band and some of the ways such challenges can be mitigated.

Abstract: Recommender systems have been immensely successful in overcoming information overload problems through personalized suggestions to consumers. There are many approaches for providing personalized suggestions. These approaches are divided into three major categories. Collaborative Filtering is the most popular approach in academics and industry. In this talk, various techniques will be discussed emphasizing on Collaborative Filter approaches. Traditional recommender systems have various issues such as diversity, long tail item recommendations, cold-start item (users). The session specific recommendation is another advancement of the traditional recommender system. In this talk, these issues will be discussed in detail.
