A brief note on Guwahati, the gateway of north-east

Guwahati known as the gateway of the northeast is a fusion of the foothills of the Shillong plateau, a synthesis of holy shrines with the river Brahmaputra. The nearby tea farms with lush green landscapes give us a source to de-stress.

Notable places to visit are Kamakhya temple, Umananda temple located on Peacock island in the middle of river Brahmaputra, Sankerdeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati zoo, and Assam State museum, etc.

Important tourist hot spots like Manas and Kaziranga national parks, Shillong hill station, and Cherrapunji, the second wettest place on earth, are located a few hours away from Guwahati and enjoys moderately warm weather in the month of February - March.
